Betty is a strong believer in building connections, community, and partnerships in learning with families, teachers, and students to nurture healthy, creative and resilient inquirers. She has been passionate about STEM education since the 80’s, when she gained an MA Computing and Technology in Education at Columbia University’s Teachers College. Betty then worked as a District Computer Coordinator in Northern New Jersey, USA, when technology was just beginning to emerge in schools.
As a Taiwanese American growing up in New York City, multilingualism and multiculturalism have always been important in Betty’s life and career. Upon making Hong Kong her home 25 years ago, she has continued to nurture global citizenship alongside academic rigor throughout her teaching career. She has extensive experience both in the classroom as well as in leadership roles developing curriculum, implementing safeguarding policies, and conducting teacher training in both established international schools and start-up schools.
Betty loves spending time with her family and two rescue dogs. She enjoys living outside the city in the New Territories, where she can go for walks in nature. Betty also practices taichi, meditation, mindfulness, and aerial yoga as part of her own positive wellbeing routine.
Betty looks forward to bringing her expertise in developing and unleashing innovation together with the Bloom KKCA Academy family.
