After studying English Language and Literature at the University of Jordan, Rula Rabayah became a dedicated educator for the subsequent 22 years, 18 of which were devoted to studying and applying inquiry-based learning through her PYP practice in international IB schools. She started her first four years of experience as an educator teaching the British curriculum for Grades 4, 5 and 6 at an English School in Jordan. After that, and for 13 years, she worked in the most established IB school in the region before moving to Hong Kong to teach at the Canadian International School for the next 6 years.
At Amman Baccalaureate School, she worked as a PYP Classroom Teacher for Grades 3, 4 and 5. During that time, she received her MA Degree in Translation from the University of Jordan and moved on to teach Translation and various Language Courses to undergraduate students at the same university from 2003 -2012. Her love for teaching language led her to complete her TEFL Certification in Spain in 2011.
A deep passion for inquiry-based learning inspired Rula to seek further professional development in the international community, which brought her to CDNIS in Hong Kong. For the next 6 years in her career, she worked as a Grade 1 and 2 PYP Classroom Teacher, Grade 4 Learning Services Teacher, and Pre-Reception-Grade 6 Making and Innovation Teacher. She experienced launching and implementing the 1-1 iPad Program in Grades 1 and 2 which helped empower students and give them agency in their learning. She also helped create a culture of making and innovation among her students, utilizing maker spaces inside and outside of classrooms to make project-based learning engaging and relevant.
During her time at CDNIS, Rula obtained two certifications from the State University of New York- SUNY: the first was Digital Literacy Certification and the second was a Certificate in Educational Technologies. She is currently working on obtaining her MA Degree in Education through the same university.
