ROUND SQUARE AT BLOOM

ROUND SQUARE AT BLOOM

Round Square is an international community of 260+ schools in 50 countries that collaborate on character education around six themes (the Round Square IDEALS) – International Understanding, Democracy, Environmental Stewardship, Adventure, Leadership and Service.

Bloom KKCA Academy is dedicated to promoting the holistic development of students and providing them with qualities that closely align with the Round Square IDEALS.

Internationalism

UK Field School

Beyond the classroom, our long-term field school partnerships offer students the chance to apply their skills in authentic, international settings. These field schools encompass complex projects, ranging from archaeological digs to ecological conservation efforts across the globe. This experience allows students to translate their classroom knowledge into real-life challenges while contributing to meaningful global initiatives that foster a sense of international responsibility.

World Scholars’ Cup

After the World Scholar's Cup Global Round in Bangkok, Bloom teams qualified for the Tournament of Champions at Yale University in November 2024! We are incredibly proud of their hard work and courage, as they showcased their talents on a global stage, connected with peers from diverse cultures, and forged new friendships. Their impressive achievements, which included 3 gold medals and 1 silver medal for individual events, along with 2 gold medals and 1 silver medal for team categories, embody the spirit of internationalism and underscore our commitment to fostering global citizenship among our students.

Bloom X Wenzhou Online Exchange

Over the past few months, 40 outstanding Grade 5 and 6 students from Wenzhou Longwan District Foreign Language Primary School participated in an online cultural exchange with our Bloom students. This collaboration allowed students from both schools to connect, broaden their perspectives, and engage in meaningful cross-cultural conversations.

Democracy

House Captain

Our students and staff have been divided into four separate Houses: Meihua, Banyan, Birchwood, and Pinecrest. Named after trees that symbolize strength, deep-seated roots, growth, individuality and expression, calmness, and the interconnectedness of everything, each House reflects these important values. Each House, comprising students from Grade 1 to Grade 6, functions like a large family unit. Each year, we practice the democratic process by voting to elect our House captain, empowering students to take on leadership roles and fostering a sense of responsibility and community within our school.

Environmentalism

Care, Think, Act Day

Care, Think, Act is our education model that addresses our students' holistic development: their wellbeing, positive mindsets, disciplinary thinking, and engagement with the community.

Family Beach Day combined fun in the sun with environmental responsibility by organizing a beach cleanup along the scenic path from Deep Water Bay to Repulse Bay. Students not only enjoyed the stunning coastal views but also actively contributed to preserving our beautiful beaches. To further instill a love for the ocean and its sustainability, our students got creative by designing eye-catching posters and crafting unique sand bottles as reminders of their day of environmental action.

Partnerships with WWF-HK

Each year, Bloom students embark on an exciting journey with WWF-HK, deepening their connection to nature and environmental stewardship. This year, our Grade 1 students had a fantastic time at Tat Island House in Tai Po, where they embraced their roles as nature artists, exploring the wonders of the natural world while learning about biodiversity and sustainable living.Meanwhile, Grade 2 students set sail on a marine adventure at Asia’s first “classroom on the sea” in Hoi Ha Wan, where they discovered the incredible diversity of marine life and the essential importance of preserving our oceans. Students in Grades 4 to 6 ventured to Mai Po Nature Reserve, immersing themselves in a rich ecosystem as they explored the intricacies of bird migration and the fascinating world of insects. Through these experiences, our students not only gain knowledge but also develop a profound appreciation for the natural environment and their role in protecting it.

Adventure

Forest School

Bloom students participate in Forest School twice a year, and this week they spent three invigorating days immersed in outdoor learning experiences. The upper primary students enjoyed an overnight adventure, while lower primary students engaged in exciting multi-day trips.

Throughout their time in Nature, students took part in hiking, kayaking, and various outdoor activities, all designed to foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and communication skills. By stepping out of their comfort zones and embracing the great outdoors, they not only built lasting friendships but also cultivated a deeper connection to nature and learned valuable life skills in a fun and engaging atmosphere.

Leadership

Grade 5 Art in the Environment Project

Our Grade 5 ELA ECS class, focused on Art in the Environment, is making a lasting impact on our campus through their leadership and creativity! They’ve delved deep into the world of environmental art, exploring various forms such as street art, neon lights, and leaf art. Not only have they learned about these art styles, but they’ve also taken the initiative to lead a school-wide rock painting activity, inspiring students of all ages to express their creativity.

The colorful rocks they created, along with their impressive library mural, will adorn our campus and foster a vibrant and inspiring environment for years to come. This project not only showcases their artistic talents but also highlights the importance of taking the lead in making a positive difference in our school community.

House Competition

In the House Basketball Competition, leadership took center stage as students from each House showcased not only their athletic skills but also their ability to inspire and unite their teams. Captains played a crucial role in rallying their teammates and fostering a spirit of sportsmanship and collaboration.

The competition was not solely about winning games; it provided an opportunity for students to come together, have fun, and embrace the spirit of teamwork. They motivated one another, encouraged perseverance, and built camaraderie among classmates, creating a supportive and engaging atmosphere that enhanced the overall experience for everyone involved.

Service

Partnership with Changing Young Lives Foundation

Through a heartfelt partnership with the Changing Young Lives Foundation (CYLF), our community demonstrated its commitment to making a positive impact. Thanks to the generous toy donations from students across all grades, we successfully spread holiday cheer during Christmas, bringing joy to many in need. Additionally, Bloom students showcased their entrepreneurial spirit and dedication by hosting a successful sale, featuring their handmade lanterns and delicious chocolate truffles, with all proceeds directly benefiting CYLF. We are proud of their spirit and dedication to making a difference, as together we brought joy and support to many families in our community.

House Competition

Our secondary students engaged in a deeply impactful service experience, collaborating with YWAM Tuen Mun. The day began with a poverty simulation, designed to provide a visceral understanding of the systemic challenges and daily hardships faced by individuals living in poverty.

Following the simulation, students applied their newfound understanding in a practical way. They put their empathy into action by assembling and distributing blessing bags, filled with essential items, directly to individuals in need within our local community. This act of direct service not only provided immediate relief to those facing hardship, but also offered our students a tangible experience of contributing to positive change and fostering a deeper connection with their community.
