BNN News - Week of Mar 17th, 2025

Bloom KKCA Academy

Hello and welcome back to another week of BNN News. My name is Olivia and my name is Noelle. And here is the news for this week.

Recently, as part of the Literacy Month activities, students in Grade 3 - 6 went to see the Chinese movie “Nezha 2”. Students gained a deeper understanding of ancient Chinese mythology and how symbolism is sparking interest in traditional Chinese culture.

Also, as a part of Literacy Month, students have been visited by multiple Chinese authors. These special guests shared their experiences as writers, help students make connections to Chinese language learning and Chinese literacy. Students learned about storytelling, cultural themes, and the process of becoming an author. A huge thank you to our visiting Chinese authors for inspiring us.

In grade six digital skills classes, students have been learning about game design and creating their own retro arcade games. Students have been coding and testing their games, developing problem-solving skills, and learning about game design theory. After spring break, they will begin building their physical arcade game machines in the Makerspace with Sun Laoshi. Along with their digital creations, this project will involve woodworking, wiring, and soldering electronics as students bring their games to life. We can't wait to see their final arcade games.

And now for the Top Story. Our school is now an official Round Square candidate school. Round Square is a global network of schools built on six pillars: internationalism, democracy, environment, adventure, leadership, and service. This means we will have opportunities to participate in exciting projects, exchanges, and conferences with other schools around the world, helping us broaden our horizons and develop lifelong skills. We are excited to be a part of this global movement. Thank you to Ms. Boey and Mr. Latham for organizing this amazing partnership.

That's a wrap for BNN Season One news. After this week, we will be taking a short break. But don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel: Bloom News Network, to get notified when we are back with more episodes.
