Dee Poon - Our Advisors

Bruce is a philanthropic grantmaker who started out as a financial analyst on Wall Street. As a Senior Charities Project Manager, he currently supports The Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Trust-Initiated Projects in his focus areas of talent development, technology education, and community resilience. He was previously a founding Director of Operations at Character Lab, a New York-based NGO that advances scientific insights that help kids thrive. Bruce had also been a strategy consultant who specialized in serving mission-oriented enterprises, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the World Bank. He holds an MPA in International Development from Harvard Kennedy School and a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT. Bruce went to local schools in Hong Kong and is a graduate of Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong.

Orly Friedman is the Founder of Red Bridge School, a new K-8 school in San Francisco with a mission to develop a sense of agency in every child as the foundation for academic and life success. Earlier in her career, Orly spent five years teaching elementary school in Washington DC. She moved to California to get her MBA at Stanford, after which she joined the founding team of Khan Lab School and worked there for four years, serving as Head of Lower School and Assistant Head of School. Orly also holds a BA in Urban Studies/Affairs from Yale University and a MA in Early Childhood Education and Teaching from George Mason University.
